in my opinion Miss Pooja and Preet Brar are the best singers right now and Karmjeet puri is the best lyrics artist. what are your opinons.

preet brar can't sing if his life depended on it he already tried putting out a cd just with all single songs no body bought it he needed miss pooja or akhtar or sudesh kumari and the song writting skills of karamjit puri

best male singers:
mohammed sadiq (legend)

gurdas mann (legend)

babbu mann (needs to get use his brain n think before he sings or acts)

nachattar gill (hik deh jor nal gonda)

ravinder grewal (he has his unique style of singing)

banny A (better live voice than jazzy b)

dharampeet (if he stops crying n puts out duet cd or bhangra cd out like he did 2 years ago)

deep dhillion (hazri was a sick cd n the new 1 is ok)

harjit harman (his voice is amazing and he got long ways to go ....)

bhagwant mann (yes i said bhagwant mann if u hear his voice when he sings he sings better than 75% of the singers out there today)

female singers

miss pooja (she was on atleast 50 cd just this year)

sudesh kumari (great voice but looks fat and ugly)

gurtesh akhtar (cousin of the legendary dishad akhtar)

jaswinder brar (boy can she sing live i seen her sing just by her self for 2 hours)

amrita virk (can sing great but she fell little bit she was on top of the game in the late 90's and early 2000's)

writers:

debi maksospuri (so i need to say anything)

karamjit puri (great mind and he uses the things that happen daily in punjab in his duets he made the carrers of preet brar, darshan khela, deep dhillion and many others)

karamjit kaddo aka. kaddon wala jeet (the man behind the song tedi pag walia for ravinder grewal that put grewal on the internation map just listen to old grewal cd's he got hella songs by jeet. he also wrote romeo and yarri for jazzy b and punjabian dah nah for inderjit nikku and for sukhshinder shinda he wrote about 2 songs. for kooljit jatt bukda and for many others songs over his carrer)

mann mardawala (wrote tons and tons of songs for mohammed sadiq)

dev dhekiwala (wrote great great songs for kuldip manak )

karnail sivia (wrote bottla sharab diyaand wrote so many dharmik songs for kuldip manak and chamkila and he wa sthe first guy to give jabh janjua a hot to sing)

davinder khanewala (he basically made kamal heer kanthe wala and many many great great songs)

There r so many crap singers in the market that they r degrading punjabi music especially the so called locals from canada + uk[taxi drivers,truck drivers,labourers,berry pickers]. These dudes go to punjab in the winter and release a tape with loads of advertising ,especially posters of themselves stuck up all over especially near their own pinds. Nobody ever buys their tapes,cds and nobody ever books them for a live show.
Dudes stop wasting your money and concentrate on buying your own house or even townhouse[u dudes would be better of paying a mortgage rather than rent for the 1or 2 bedroom basements u live in].
Stop embarassing punjabi music ! koi sharm karo !

THE GREAT PANJABI SINGERS CHAMKILA + AMARJOT DIED THIS DAY 8TH MARCH 1988 .THEY WERE KILLED BY GUNMEN ON THE OUTSKIRTS OF VILLAGE MEHSOMPUR NEAR PASLA DIST JALANDHAR . 2 MEMBERS OF HIS BAND WERE ALSO KILLED. AMAR ARSHI WAS ALSO PART OF HIS BAND BUT HE SURVIVED .

They where4 killed on while attending some ones wedding and now that someone is very infuental in kabaddi

I hate Chamkila the most, even more than Daler Mehndi.
Chamkila has made filth of supposedly some of our most pavitar rishtas.

The problem with his lyrics is that they just dirty, for that reason the radio stations in England refuse to play any of his songs bar the odd religious one and they are only clean because he didn’t write them himself.

His killers were never caught because people were generally glad he was killed, no one cares, apart from his cult following. Unless you want our women folk to act like hoes that is.

You only need to be able to understand a handful of his lyrics to see how controversial they are.

Example’s:
Jija Lak Min Le – Veer tere naal lalaun lawan bhalke la aa jann ve, jija lak min le, hai garhve wargi runve.
Jija / Sali, Sali says to Jija I’ll marry your brother tomorrow bring the bharat (jann in moga boli), so we can be together.

Kud Kud Mare Chubian – Masea te ai sukh yaar di charai, diva peeran di samadh te jagavan gabru vajaun seetian gore pinde utte pani jadun pavan gabru vajaun seetian.
Masea is a similar custom to sangrand and puranmashi and we hear of a girl who carries on bathing in water even though she knows men are watching.

Aate Wangu Gunti Begane Putt ne – Pehla din jadu muklawewala raat si.
Talks about the first night on wedding day. After a few days girls goes back to her peke and her boyfriend comments to her “Aate Wangu Gunti Begane Putt ne”, the Begana putt being her husband. What he means is quite explicit that I can’t even explain it.

Bahan vich Bhabhi – Bahan vich Bhabhi saujan ni challo ga deor pakhian
Deor is saying to his Bhabhi you can fall asleep in my arms…….

In a lot of his songs he’s just encouraging extra martial affairs with your own relatives.

Malkit Singh Golden Star would also have been shot but ran away to England when asked to explain the lyrics “Hey Jamalo, Aja Tutanwale Khoo te”.

Hi Balam , long time no hear from u , u do have a point about Chamkilas lyrics but there,s far worse going down in Punjabi music now :
near naked models dancing ,lyrics far stronger than Chamkilas , the girls dancing in Dj groups r virtually putting on a sex show @ weddings and the NRI,S especially go on stage and touch these girls in full view of all de guests.
