Mumbai, Nov 20: Formidable India crushed lowly placed Thailand 50-29 in the opening pool 'A' match of the first ever world cup kabaddi tournament played here on Friday.

India's skipper Sanjiva Kumar marshalled his resources magnificently and saw to it that Thailand did not have a chance to take the fight to the hosts.

Manprit Singh and Sundar Singh gave India early lead with some attacking play and the Asian games gold medallists were leading comfortably at 19-2.

However, Thailand fought back despite their captain Akkaradach Boonpang being injured early in the match.

Anurak Boonsri and Wacharin Nootong played their heart out to reduce the margin at 23-14. However, Indians picked up their games through Manprit Singh, Shailesh Sawant and Ramesh Kumar Sr to increase their lead to 33-14 at half-time.

The Indians proved their class in the second half, winning points at will and at the same time restricting their opponents from snatching any.

Why is Asian Federation making noise when INdian fed is keeping quiet.

I understand and know it is wrong to play in an unofficial World Cup which is not recognised by the Asian body. But is not promotion of sport.

India, Iran storm into Kabbadi semis

Mumbai, Nov 20 (PTI) Title favourites India and Iran stormed into the World Cup Kabaddi semifinals by recording emphatic victories to emerge with all-win records in the league stage on the second day here today.

The architect of India's win over Canada was all-round player Manpreet Singh who was later adjudged the man of the match.
The others to catch the eye in the home team's facile win which fetched them four bonus points were Shailesh Sawant (6 points), captain Sanjeeva Kumar (5) and B C Suresh (5).
India dominated the proceedings from the beginning and were leading 46-10 at one stage in the second half of the tie. Yesterday, the hosts had begun with a thumping 50-29 verdict over Thailand.

Iran were also impressive while rolling over Bangladesh, their main rivals in group C, 53-40 (Half time 34-19) in the deciding clash to see who goes through from this group.

nobodies posted anything regarding this on this discussion forum yet you must have read it somewhere else
I read about it but decided not to post the news here because i didn't want to spoil the fun
i think both sides have good points
the media has confirmed that this world cup is being organized by a sports club and it isn't official but i think the organizers may have done a bad job by scrapping the teams together that really represent the best kabaddi players from their countries
and what's up with Pakistan, you would think they would be one of the top teams but they aren't even playing
as for Canada i sense something funny going on
how can they beat W. Indies by a whopping 93-9 and then lose to India 51-14 who beat W. Indies by only 60-42
surely India are the favorites but i like to go for the under dogs Smile

WHY ISN"T ANYONE VOTING IN THE POLL?
