The B.C. federation has announced that there will be 4 new teams in b.c for the 2008 season taking the grand total of teams to 14:

Vancouver Kabaddi Club (all the star players from Harjit Kabaddi Club will be playing for this team) Raj Badhni will have his own team - Harjit K.C.

There will be a second Calgary team. I presume that this one will be weaker than the team that already competes.

I have heard Canadian Top Team will also be competing in all the tourneys against the other teams in the fed.

And lastly the team that Harjit Brar Bajakhana led to prominence will be back- Punjab Sports Club.

Prize money will also be up $1,000. Winners of each tourney will receive $6,000 while runners -up will get $5,000.

Also they have stated that no player in the federation is to be paid more than $20,000 for the B.C. season and if a team is caught paying more they will be fined substantially or the team will be thrown out for the season.

The 4 new teams do not get player visas for 3 years. The only way they can get players is via the players that land in Toronto ( through the teams that send permits from Toronto.)

Lastly this will be a very exciting season in B.C. The top 7 teams are all expected to be strong while there will be a substantial difference in talent from the bottom half. Azzad is expected to have a strong team after having what was probably the most dissapointing team in their history this past season. Young Club, Vancouver Kabaddi Club, Azzad, Calgary, Fraser Valley, Prince George, and Richmond will all be strong teams. Young, Vancouver K.C. and if Azzad is loaded with talent these 3 teams should all compete for the most cups while Fraser Valley, Prince George, Calgary, and Richmond will all be looking to sneak in Cup victories aswell.

(Sundeep Gurdaspuria was signed by Richmond Kabaddi Club shortly after the season ended in B.C.)

everything seems fair n great other than "no player in the federation is to be paid more than $20,000 for the B.C. season and if a team is caught paying more they will be fined substantially or the team will be thrown out for the season" what happens to the players that signed a long term contracts for huge amoutn of money cause for canada born / american born players 20 k is not enough maybe for india playes it is good amount.

Rampur walia how many players do u know that are u.s. or canadian born that are considered superstars? Ali Sandhu doesn't even play that much anymore and he does have a day job, I believe he is a nutritionist. Lakha doesn't get paid i don't think because he is a player/ organizer and he builds houses. I'm not sure about Tirath, but he probably does something else other than Kabaddi as a form of income.

Sundeep Lallian- Truck driver
Bheera Sidhma- Truck driver
Swarna Vailey Churchakia- Truck driver
Soni Sunathe- Truck driver
Jugga Alowal- Truck driver

Dhulla, Kaka, and Gurlal are the only players i can think of that have been stars for a long time that still live in India. and they have all made alot of money and still do. Kaka was brought over by the Lashers in California 6 or 7 years ago. These 3 players are all on 10 year player visas.

$20,000 is alot of money for a player from India too be making, and they will still be making money from Toronto too. (Gurjit Tootanwala, Ekam Hathur, Sundeep Surhkpuria, Jassa Sidhmawala, Kuljeeta Malsian,Goggo Kooner, Kallu Rasulpuria, Mangi are going to be the stars that lead the way for the next several years.)

Lastly, the players that signed long term contracts for huge amounts of money will have to deal with the new rules. One thing is certain though teams will probably be trying to pay some players who are unhappy more money under the table, its all a matter of getting caught.... a sad fact though.
